Locorotondo, along with Martina Franca and Cisternino, overlooks the Valley of Itria, a fertile karst depression densely populated and dotted with groups of Trulli. A farming town producing excellent wine.
Locorotondo is perched on a hill dominated by the Mother Church of S. Giorgio, built on a circular plan, its narrow concentric and radial streets lined with white terraced houses. The beautiful church if S. Maria della Greca, built by the Prince of Taranto in the Gothic Style, has recently been restored.
